 What is a mackerel? A mackerel ( Scomber scombrus ) is a marine fish in the mackerel family. It has a body that is coil-shaped and has two dorsal fins. It is mottled green on the back, with shades of blue, and a pearlescent belly. Above all, the mackerel eats small insects, such as plankton and shrimp. That's why it loves streams - where the prey thrives best. Where are the mackerel? The mackerel usually arrive at the end of May and can be fished right up to the edge of autumn by everything from recreational anglers to seasoned sea anglers. You can find the fish along the entire west coast. The species has a wide distribution that includes the North Atlantic from southern Norway and Iceland south to Morocco , the Mediterranean and the Black Sea and the eastern coast of North America. A rainbow trout ( Oncorhynchus mykiss ) is a trout in the salmonid family.  It has an elongated body shape that mimics the trout.  What most characterizes the rainbow is its red-violet band that runs along the side of the body, the pink cheeks and the black dots on the sides, dorsal and tail fin. Where is the rainbow?
